Hello.

If you’re reading this right now, it means that you have been deemed a possible applicant for the MOSS project. Congratulations!

Related to the well-known Morpheus Project, the MOSS Project is a government-funded endeavor with the intent of locating individuals with potential talents, and teaching them to nurture and use those skills. You are one of said individuals.

My name is Joseph Esterbrook, and I am the director of the MOSS Project. I have won a Nobel Prize for psychological work, and I was appointed to this position by Thomas Kent, the director of the Morpheus Project. In addition to this, I have published a book on dreams, dream worlds, and their connotations, titled The Dreamscape. You may find this book online or at a local library.

But that’s enough about me. What I really want to know about is you. To ensure that you are a perfect match for our program, there are some forms that you have to complete. Please take your time, and answer truthfully and candidly.

  1. A few notes about this:

    1. Don't actually send anything to the email address or the post address. I made them up, so it would be a waste of time.

    2. Feel free to have as many characters as you like, but please make them diverse and believable. Have characters of both genders, make them hail from any country around the world, and vary their ages. It makes things much more interesting.

    3. Your history doesn't have to be extensive, but you should have a legitimate backstory that shapes your character.

    4. You have to be of age to participate in the MOSS Project, so 18 and up please. Unless you want to lie about your age, but in that case they have to look eighteen, so sixteen at the very least.

    5. No, there are not any pictures. That is why the description is so extensive. One of the fundamentals of the human mind is that we perceive things very different ways, and much of this blog is about those differences. I understand that fixed looks would be easier to see, but the interpretation of your characters is a huge part of the story. Plus, the story has time jumps, so you don't have to look up a new picture every time something changes.

    6. Yes, I did say time jumps. No, we are not taking the DeLorean.

    7. Sweet dreams!

  3. Update to Katharina's history: After private school, Katharina moved to London to attend Imperial College. Her intent was to become a doctor, but after her freshman year at Imperial, she transferred to the University of the Arts London College of Fashion, where she intends to become a fashion designer. She knows she could do it because she has an eye for color, shape and detail. But now she's running short on cash because her parents don't support her decision to become a designer.

  4. (Sadly, I have not yet seen 'Inception'. So I have no idea what's going on right now...)

    Full Name: Erin Renee Kinsley
    Age: 19
    Gender: female
    Nationality: American
Physical Appearance (including skin tone, body type, and any defining marks such as scars, tattoos, birthmarks, etc): Erin has shoulder-length, wavy light brown hair and pale green eyes. She is a bit on the short side, and has evenly tanned skin from being out in the sun too long. She is slender, and just a little underweight. A scar runs through her left calf, something she's had since she was very young, but has no idea how she got it.
    Father: David Kinsley
    Mother: Lauren Kinsley
    Sibling(s): Connor Kinsley (26)
    Spouse/Partner (if applicable): N/A
    Children (if applicable): N/A
    Other Family: N/A
Current Place of Residence: Manhattan, NY
History: Erin, born in Miami, Florida from a grade-school teacher and a very successful lawyer, was never exactly given much attention. She went on living her life as a normal student, without much of a complaint. She has grown an interest in sketching whatever comes to mind, on whatever scrap of paper available. Her sketches have always been of some imaginative world, from the adventure she was always longing for. Erin was accepted into college, but never went, intent on searching for something different. She soon came across the MOSS Project.

    Full Name: Connor Kinsley
    Age: 26
    Gender: male
    Nationality: American
Physical Appearance (including skin tone, body type, and any defining marks such as scars, tattoos, birthmarks, etc): Connor has dark brown-black hair with light blue eyes. He is about average height, with an athletic build he attained from high school. His skin is only slightly tanned, and like his sister, has a scar near his collarbone, but has no idea what happened.
    Father: David Kinsley
    Mother: Lauren Kinsley
    Sibling(s): Erin Renee Kinsley (19)
    Spouse/Partner (if applicable): N/A
    Children (if applicable): N/A
    Other Family: N/A
Current Place of Residence: Manhattan, NY
History: Connor was always protective of his sister, since she was born. He received much more attention than his sister, but it was always from his father. Being a lawyer, his father had always had a bit of a short temper, and took it out on Connor. He would have done the same to Erin, but Connor had always stopped his father, usually the cause of more bruises. He passed his college exams, but was jobless for some time. In order to escape the stress from his parents, he joined the MOSS Project along with his sister.

  5. (@Starless: *gasp* Oh you poor, poor child...Don't worry, I'll explain everything in time. Plus, the characters have no idea how dream-sharing works, so it's kind of mandatory that I explain.
@Kat: Sorry that it took so long to figure out that I had to approve your comment! XD Anyway, I'll add everyone soon, both to the admin list and your characters, and we can get this show on the road as soon as I get the rest of my characters up on the join page and start the "Interviews" post. Ciao!
